Chobani flips are many people’s go-to when they want a tasty snack, but also want something healthier than a piece of cake or a chocolate bar.
These delicious, mix-in yogurts combine creamy Greek yogurt with fun, crunchy toppings like granola and chocolate.
But, are Chobani flips good for weight loss? My answer is no. Other than the fact that they have a good amount of protein, there is nothing good to say about them.
In this blog post, we will explore deeper into Chobani Flips. I will also share with you the best Greek yogurt brands in the market!

Chobani Flips and Weight Loss
To aid your weight loss goals, you need to opt for yogurts with fewer calories, less sugar, higher protein content, and clean ingredients.
Nutritional Data
I went through most of the Chobani Flip flavors’ nutritional data. These are the ranges I found per serving / 1 container (128g):
- Calories: 150-190
- Protein: 8-11g
- Sugar: 11-14g
So they are not low-calorie and they have a high amount of sugar. Their only saving grace is that they have a decent amount of protein. Protein as you know helps keep you feeling full longer.
Ingredients
By looking at the nutritional data, I already knew I could not expect anything good from the ingredients.
The Good:
But everything is bad with Chobani Flips. Let’s go over the good in which I was pleasantly surprised to find out.
- Only non-GMO ingredients
- No artificial flavors or preservatives
- No modified cornstarch or high fructose corn syrup
The Bad:
Let’s start by looking at the ingredients of some of the favorite flavors:
- Almond Coco Loco: Cultured low-fat milk, cane sugar, water, almonds, chocolate, coconut, tapioca flour, honey, natural flavors, guar gum, sea salt, fruit pectin, cocoa, cocoa butter, vanilla bean powder, lemon juice concentrate, contains milk, almonds, and coconut
- Salted Caramel Crunch: Cultured low-fat milk, cane sugar, water, wheat flour, chocolate, cocoa butter, tapioca flour, milk, caramelized syrup, guar gum, caramel color, natural flavors, fruit pectin, malted barley flour, salt, soybean oil, soy lecithin, lemon juice concentrate, baking soda, vanilla extract, contains milk, wheat, and soy.
- Peanut Butter Dream: Cultured low-fat milk, cane sugar, water, peanuts, palm kernel oil, chocolate, rolled oats, cocoa butter, milk, rice flour, honey, natural flavors, salt, fruit pectin, guar gum, peanut butter (peanuts, salt), skim milk, soy lecithin, cocoa, annatto (for color), vanilla extract, lemon juice concentrate, tapioca flour
You’ll notice that while not all flavors have the same ingredients, they all have cane sugar as the second ingredient. Not good!
They also contain processed and inflammatory oils such as palm kernel oil and soybean oil.
They contain fillers like wheat flour and tapioca flour.
And they contain “natural flavors”, which is another word for artificial chemicals.
When choosing a yogurt, in general, you should stay away from sugar, oils, food starch, preservatives and stabilizers.
Which Chobani Yogurt Should You Choose?
Chobani sells different kinds of yogurt other than the Flip which are better for you.
The zero-sugar Chobani yogurt is a type of Greek yogurt that contains no added sugar.
It is made with natural sweeteners such as stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract, which provide sweetness without adding calories or raising blood sugar levels.
They have about 11 grams of protein and 60 calories. They are also low-fat and lactose-free.
The best Chobani can buy is the Chobani Greek Non-Fat Plain yogurt. This is one of the best food you can eat if you are trying to lose weight.
You get all the benefits of Greek yogurt, it’s low-calorie, and it is high in protein. This Greek yogurt contains 14 grams of protein and 80 calories. That’s enough protein to keep you full for a while!
This one is also low-fat, however, it does not say that it’s for those who are lactose intolerant.

What Should You Look For In Yogurt For Weight Loss?
If you are used to eating Chobani Flips, I have a feeling that you are not going to like my answer. But here you go:
1. Buy grass-fed, or at least organic
Not buying grass-fed or organic most likely means that the yogurt was made from cows that are fed a GMO grain-based diet.
That is not good for your health or for the environment.
2. Buy unflavored
Sugar or even honey that is packaged with yogurt will kill the live and active culture. Probiotics promote a healthy gut.
So any flavored yogurt is a no-go because it kills the good bacteria and will cancel out the benefits.
3. Buy Greek yogurt
Because it is strained, Greek yogurt contains high protein amounts, a lower amount of carbs, and less sugar.
It also contains probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help improve gut health.
Chobani Flip Alternatives
If you are trying to lose weight, you can’t go wrong with one of the following brands:

- Lava
- Kite Hill
- Forager
2. Best dairy yogurt brands:
- Stonyfield
- Organic Valley
- Nancy’s probiotic

How To Make Greek Yogurt Taste Good
Greek Yogurt doesn’t have to taste nasty. In fact, you can make it taste good and still be healthy. Here are some ways:
1. Sweeten It Up
Some healthy options to sweeten your Greek yogurt are:
- Honey
- Monk fruit
- Real fruit
Adding any of these sweeteners as you are about to eat your yogurt won’t affect the good bacteria. The problem is when sweeteners are packaged with the yogurt.
2. Add Toppings
Consider adding high-protein toppings to your yogurt.
- Nuts and seeds: Almonds, walnuts, cashews, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseeds are all high in protein and make great yogurt toppings.
- Nut butter: Peanut butter, almond butter, and other nut butters are high in protein and make a great addition to yogurt.
- Granola: Granola is a crunchy and delicious topping that is high in protein and fiber.
- Cottage cheese: Adding a spoonful of cottage cheese to your yogurt can add extra protein and creaminess.
Conclusion
When you read “Greek Yogurt” it is easy to be fooled into automatically thinking it must be healthy.
It seems so convenient to have a to-go yogurt that is delicious and healthy at the same time.
That is the allure of Chobani Flips. Unfortunately, that is not what you want to be eating when you are trying to lose weight.
When yogurt has chocolate chips or caramel your antennas should immediately go up.
Chobani has healthier types of yogurts for you. There are also many other alternatives to Chobani in the market that can help you in your weight loss journey!
