If you opened my freezer, you would know I am obsessed with Yasso bars!
They are a low-calorie treat, which makes them the perfect alternative to ice cream for weight loss.
They make the bars from greek yogurt to give them a creamy texture. They are delicious!
However, my obsession has me wondering: are Yasso bars healthy? Is it safe to eat these bars regularly?
Read on to uncover the ingredients, nutrition facts, and my personal recommendation for eating these bars for weight loss.

Why I Recommend Them For Weight-Loss
Yasso Bars are my hidden secret! They are great for weight loss because they are low in calories, high in protein, and they satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt of eating ice cream or other high-calorie desserts!
On average, a Yasso bar is 65 grams and 100 calories. A Ben & Jerry’s ice cream scoop (85 grams) is about 220 calories.
So not only do Yasso bars help with portion control, but they save you about 100 the calorie you would consume from regular ice cream.
And as we know, in order to lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit. Therefore, I absolutely recommend them if you are trying to lose weight!
Are Yasso Bars Healthy?
I will not lie to you and tell you that Yasso bars are the healthiest ice cream you can buy because they are not.
The milk is not organic, and much less grass-fed. The bars have processed oils, sugar, and natural flavors (which are not really natural).
However, they are not the unhealthiest ice cream in the market either. My advice is to not eat Yasso bars every day, but have them as a replacement whenever you are craving ice cream.

Ingredients
The ingredients will depend on the flavor of the bar that you buy.
However, the general base ingredients are Nonfat Milk, Greek Yogurt, Sugar, Chocolate Flake, Milk Protein Concentrate, Maltodextrin, Cream, Natural Flavor, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum.
For those with allergies, keep in mind that the bars contain milk, soy, and wheat
Nutrition Facts
One bar contains about:
100 calories
5 grams of protein
9 grams of sugar
17 grams of carbs
2 grams of fat
Yasso bars are great if you are looking for a low-calorie, high protein bar. However, it is not for those following a keto or a low-sugar diet.
Are Yasso bars sugar-free? What are Yasso bars sweetened with?
Although Yasso bars have much less sugar compared to traditional ice cream, they are not sugar-free.
As explained above, each Yasso bar has about 9 grams of sugar and is sweetened with regular sugar.
The Flavors Available
The Yasso bars are available in the following flavors:
- Black Raspberry Chip
- Butter Pecan
- Chocolate Chip
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
- Chocolate Fudge
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip
- Coffee Chocolate Chip
- Cookies ‘n Cream
- Fudge Brownie
- Mint Chocolate Chip
- Pistachio Brittle
- Sea Salt Caramel
- Vanilla Bean
I have tried 6 out of the 13 flavors. So far, my favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough. I’m dying to try the pistachio brittle flavor, but I haven’t seen it in any of the stores yet.
Where To Buy Them
Yasso bars are available at Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons, Target, Walmart, and Costco.
I’ve found that where I can buy them cheaper is at Walmart (about $3.50 for a box of 4). Costco also sells them at a cheaper price, but they only sell the mint chocolate chip flavor, which I am not a fan of, bummer!
You can go to the Yasso website to buy them online. The problem is, that is where they are sold at the most expensive price (about $7.00 for a box of 4).
Are They Gluten-Free? Are They GMO-Free?
Only the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cookies n’ Cream, and Fudge Brownie flavors are not gluten-free.
Unfortunately, they are not 100% GMO-free.
How many Weight Watchers points is a Yasso bar?
Yasso bars are a superb choice for those on weight watchers. According to the Weight-Watchers website, they are “3 SmartPoints each across myWW+™ colors.”
Conclusion
Are Yasso bars healthy? Although Yasso bars are somewhere in the middle on the health scale, they provide a convenient option for people who want to lose weight.
I would recommend them if you need a replacement for ice cream since they are low in calories and high in protein.
Not to mention, they are a delicious dessert!
